Steve Loeppky

Steve Loeppky

Steve is the parent of 6th grader, Emma, at Madison. Steve has only played casually as an adult, but enjoys the sport's:

  1. Heavy emphasis on sportsmanship: there are no refs. The kids have to enforce the rules, and they take time at the end of the game to review their own conduct and the conduct of the other team.
  2. Coed nature: there aren't too many sports where all genders get to play together. It generally feels like a more rounded-out experience.
  3. Newcomers welcome: it's fine if you are just starting out. You're not disadvantaged if you haven't been playing since kindergarten because very few if any have been playing before.
  4. Many avenues to shine: while yes it helps to be skilled at throwing, if someone is willing to work hard (e.g., run), they can help overcome any gaps in their developing skills.

This is Steve's 7th season volunteering/coaching with Madison. He enjoys biking and generally playing just about any game.

Gabriel Scheer

Gabriel Scheer

Gabriel is the parent of Madison 6th grader Arlen. He has played on college and club teams for more than two decades (!). Gabriel places a heavy emphasis on spirit of the game. One of the most amazing things about ultimate is the emphasis on being good humans playing together, and Gabriel seeks to instill this in his players. SotG can be summarized as treating others with respect, taking responsibility for one's actions, and integrity.

This is Gabriel's 4th season volunteering/coaching, 3 with Lafayette Elementary and now with Madison.
